VELUX Case Study
Wray Ward came to us to produce a national commercial for Velux around their “Shift Your Outlook” campaign, with the goal of showcasing skylights as a fifth wall of any room – and to change the way you think about your ceilings.
We developed, built, and helped launch one of Food Network’s biggest activations – the first-ever Fantasy Kitchen Giveaway.
After working on many Scripps home giveaway campaigns for HGTV, we helped Food Network develop a new tentpole content experience of their own, spanning linear, digital, social and print platforms, and delivering entertaining advertiser-driven storytelling for the culinary audience.
PRECISION CAMERA
We utilized the pinpoint precision of the Milo MoCo rig to make sure this spot had exactly the right move to turn viewer’s worlds (and perspectives) upside down.
PRE-VIZ
We spent months before the shoot getting the shot exactly right through pre-visualization, so by the time we got to set there were no surprises, only happy clients.
Custom Set Build
With the pinpoint accuracy and specific vision demanded for this project, we built a custom set with our partners to make sure our living room was exactly like we needed it, complete with a beautiful sunny sky, textured wallpaper ceiling, concrete floors, and reclaimed wood accent wall to bring the most out of the Velux skylights and make this an aspirational, magazine-worthy space.
MULTI-PLATFORM
We facilitated a separate stills shoot on our set, allowing for custom print ads and digital assets to be created from the same campaign and tie cohesively into the on-air spot. In a clever twist, audiences had to turn the print ad sideways to read the copy and experience the same perspective shift as the video version.
MEASURING SUCCESS
This spot aired across Scripps Networks to coincide with Velux’s sponsorship of the HGTV Smart Home, tying into an overall campaign that saw tens of millions of entries and hundreds of millions of eyeballs.
