“This is Universal” Case Study

We partnered with Universal Destinations & Experiences to create the ultimate travel series as the tentpole program for their Discover Universal initiative, showcasing every aspect of Universal Orlando Resort from the perspective of two real people who’ve never been, along with the help of a theme park expert.

DEVELOPMENT + LOGISTICS

We collaborated with Universal to execute every aspect from start to finish – developing the show, research, scripts, casting, production, post-production, and GFX. Our aim was to inspire viewers and provide them with an authentic, fun, irreverent way to get all the necessary information to plan their next family vacation.

Our production team spent two weeks in Orlando filming at and around the parks – Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay – along with dozens of restaurants and hotels on the property.

Our post-production team navigated the complex process of working with dozens of entertainment IPs in the parks, while creating the six-episode digital series, promos for each episode on every platform, and an overall series trailer with a custom graphics package. The series launched on YouTube, shared across social, and will continue to live on Universal’s O&O channels.

EPISODE 1: UNIVERSAL STUDIOS FLORIDA

Jake takes Paige and Jimmy on a tour of Gringotts bank, introduces them to his pal Optimus Prime, and enlists them as Minions in the service of supervillain Gru. Jump into some of your favorite movies and series at Universal Studios Florida.

EPISODE 2: ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE

Paige and Jimmy come face-to-face with some of Hagrid’s favorite magical creatures, meet iconic Marvel Super Heroes, and find some great rides for their daughters in Seuss Landing. Jake even gets to be a first timer, himself, on the thrilling Jurassic World VelociCoaster.

EPISODE 3: VOLCANO BAY

Paige and Jimmy experience some wet and wild rides with Jake before relaxing in their own private open-air cabana. Dive into the tropical island paradise that is Volcano Bay.

EPISODE 4: HOTELS

Jake shows Paige and Jimmy how to choose the best lodging for their family’s upcoming trip. He’s got tips for each of the eight hotels, and yes, there is a quiz at the end. Tour the options from Premier ($$$$) to Value ($).

EPISODE 5: DINING

Paige and Jimmy get their fill of delectable dishes at restaurants in and out of the parks while Jake deep dives on the available cuisine from elaborate milkshakes to Mediterranean fare and beyond. Dig into the dining possibilities.

EPISODE 6: THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER

Jake leads Paige and Jimmy into the hallowed halls of Hogwarts castle, introduces them to six kinds of Butterbeer, and teaches them how the wand chooses the wizard at Ollivanders Wand Shop. Visit your favorite locations from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade to Diagon Alley and in between.

The reaction from fans and viewers continues to be overwhelmingly positive, delivering on the brand’s objective to inspire viewers and provide them with an authentic, fun, irreverent way to get all the necessary information to plan their next family vacation.
