We raised the bar again for the HGTV Urban Oasis campaign to show that the sky’s the limit in Atlanta.
HGTV returned to us to push their 2014 Urban Oasis Sponsorship campaign to the next level, building excitement for the newest addition of television’s most popular home giveaway in Atlanta, GA. Additionally, we lent our creative services to work together with Scripps Networks on a seamless Sweeps campaign that matched the visual style of our sponsor vignettes while creating efficiencies that let us go above and beyond a traditional budget.
We know how to handle complex logistical challenges and our expertise came in handy for this year’s HGTV Urban Oasis. Shooting over four days inside the Residences at Mandarin Oriental in Buckhead, a fully operational hotel in one of Atlanta’s most prominent neighborhoods, meant leaving a small footprint with our crew, talent and equipment while navigating the world’s slowest freight elevator during a major construction renovation.
30 minutes and 37 floors later, we covered every angle of the prize package – a car shoot with the new Acura TLX, an interview featuring Lindsay Pumpa – designer of the Urban Oasis – as well as beautiful interior footage of sponsor’s products and the finished space. We also got additional beauty shots of the home with the Lytro camera – a brand new, breakthrough technology that allowed us to stay on the cutting edge without breaking the budget.
With the ability to pull focus anywhere on a photo after it’s been taken, we mixed in some cool motion frozen-in-time images into our spot – becoming one of the first to feature this technique in the commercial space. We worked together with Lytro’s team of developers and photographers from the beginning to the end, even inviting them to set to work alongside with their new camera system.
To top it all off, we reached great heights to get some innovative exterior shots of the Mandarin Oriental and surrounding Atlanta using a drone helicopter. The Mandarin Oriental liked it so much that they requested the footage to use in their promotional materials – which we were happy to provide. Too bad we can’t enter to win. 🙁
