“SWISH” Original Documentary

SWISH tells the extraordinary true story of Kennedy Nkwain, a self-made basketball phenom from the war-torn northwest region of Cameroon whose homemade training videos and relentless pursuit of a seemingly impossible dream captured the attention of millions—and some of the biggest names in basketball.

Growing up amid conflict, with limited access to proper courts, equipment or professional training, Kennedy built his game from the ground up and began sharing his journey on social media. His raw talent and infectious drive eventually reached NBA stars including Stephen Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo and fellow Cameroonian Joel Embiid, who saw something special in the young player and helped open a door Kennedy had spent his life fighting toward.

The documentary follows Kennedy as he says an emotional goodbye to his family and travels to the United States for the opportunity of a lifetime: training alongside current and former NBA players and legendary coaches before putting everything on the line for a chance to earn a professional contract in the NBA G League. Along the way, Kennedy must navigate a new country, a new culture and an entirely new level of competition—all while carrying the hopes of the family and community he left behind.

Directed by Deon Taylor and executive produced by BARK BARK & Hidden Empire, SWISH goes far beyond the familiar story of an athlete chasing the pros. It’s an intimate coming-of-age and immigrant story about family, sacrifice and what happens when a dream born thousands of miles away suddenly becomes real, and one young man gets the chance to change the trajectory of his life and the lives of those he loves through the game of basketball.
